Workin' Water - #1
This is an
Aquatic pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 1315)
I have been teaching advanced aqua aerobics for a little over 1 year. I have found
little information available to help me out, so I drew on my land aerobics background.
I like to know what I am doing, why I am doing it, and how long am I going to do it for.
I am going to attempt to share some of the things that I have found to work very well with
my classes. They like to work very hard & feel like they have accomplished something
during their class time. Here comes my 1st attempt at online aqua:
BLOCK 1
- 8x Back kicks moving forward (8 counts)
- 4x Jumping jacks in place (8 counts)
- 8x Front kicks moving backwards (8 counts)
- 4x Jumping jacks in place (8 counts)
- 8x Scissor turning right & center then left & center (16 counts)
- 8x Hop jump right and left (16 counts)
BLOCK 2
- 4x Hop front to back (8 counts)
- 4x Hop right to left (8 counts)
- 4x Hop front to back (8 counts)
- 4x Hop right to left (8 counts)
- 4x Hop front/hop back/jack out/jack in (16 counts)
- 4x Corner to corner ski/jack combo (16 counts)
BLOCK 3
- 4x Hop on your right leg with left leg extended side (4 counts)
- 4x Hop on your left leg with right leg extended side (4 counts)
- Repeat each above again 3x more. (24 counts)
- 2x Hop on your right leg (2 counts) switch!
- 2x Hop on your left leg (2 counts) switch!
- Repeat these double hops 3x more each leg (12 counts)
- 16x Single hops right and left (16 counts)
You are now ready to repeat from the beginning.
I stress doing the jacks "low" and "high". Go,low when the legs open and lift high when
the legs close. The music I like to use ranges from 136-152bpm.
