Let's do it!
This is a
Hi/Lo pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 522)
Okay, this is the basic part of the pattern:
- Walk up 4, arms front raise
- Walk back 4, arms front raise
- Grapevine right, arms side raise
- Grapevine left, arms side raise
(The above part makes an upside down T)
- Pivot full circle right, arms up, down, up down
- March right-left-right-left
Okay, now time for add-ons!
Here's some add-on combos that I like to throw in:
- 4 side squats right-left-right-left
(squat out towards right, feet together 2 claps, squat out towards left,
feet together 2 claps)
- 8 lunge backs
- 4 hamstring curls
- 4 knees
AND/OR:
- 4 kick front
- 4 kick side
- 4 knee up
- 4 knee side
AND/OR:
- 4 jacks
- 4 circle jacks (feet becomes a heel out, arms big circle back)
- 4 jump-shake (like a double jack, 2 out, 2 in with a head/shoulder
shake - get the students to "Whoop!")
- 4 "springs" (again, like a double jack, but with a big "SPRING!" back
together ... if the students are really into it they'll make a "BOING"
noise!)
I really like the basic part of this pattern because you can spend some time
breaking it down, and when the students do get it, then they cruise
through it. It can be a pre-cardio or a really kickin' cardio depending on
the add-ons that you use. In case you can't tell, I'm a big fan of students
clapping and making noise. This one goes over big with the University of
Oregon students -- let me know what you think!
