Step is horizontal:
***To break down the tick-tock: instead of two stomps, I start out with 4 stomps and then do 3 step-touches moving across the step. When you get to the other side, do 4 stomps and do 3 step-touches moving back across the step. When the class gets used to the pattern, change the step-touches to a tick tock: starting on the left foot, for example, step up left and kick your left leg out to the side, (landing on your right foot), then kick your right leg out to the side (landing on your left foot). You are basically kicking each leg out to the side alternately, like the pendelum of a clock, and moving across the step. When your class gets the pattern down, use the pattern in the combo above (1 L-step, 2 stomps, tick-tock, etc...)****
I hope you enjoy the combos, my classes really love them. You also may
want to try having the class jump-rope for 2 minutes in-between a set of
3 or 4 combos. It breaks down the monotony of step and it's great
because people can jump-rope at their own pace and style while keeping
their heart rate up.
