Everyone Loves Lunges!
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 1602)
* Step Orientation is Vertical *
This pattern starts out with a left lead. To achieve a smooth transition from
a right lead combination, I usually cue (4) basic right & (4) basic left so
I can start on the left lead and on the phrase.
Combo #1
- Two alternating knee lifts (8)
- L-step to the right (4)
- Over-Twist (see explanation below) (4)
- V-step lead left (4)
- Turnstep lead left (4)
- Up, up, lunge of the end of step 2 times then exit off the end (4)
- You are now on a right lead - repeat.
- Transition (from left lead):
- Knee repeater 5 lead left (12)
- Knee repeater 5 lead right (12)
- Single knee lift lead left (4)
- L-step to the left (4)
Combo #2
- (From right lead, standing along side with right foot closest)
- A-step (4)
- Up, up straddle down, up, up exit to the left (8)
- Two kicks, lead right (same leg) (8)
- Up, up lunge of the sides four times exit right (12)
You are now on a left lead - repeat.
Over-Twist - I've heard this cued several ways, (revolving-door, freeway,
etc.) Basically, it's an over-the-top without a tap. When on a left lead you
step up left, unload to the right, turning slightly right, then step down
left, right (reverse if on right lead). This step is a handy substitute for
an over-the-top because it doesn't automatically change leads!
To make all my choreography last longer through classes, I cycle my lever
steps in the same combo, (i.e. knee, side-leg, hamstring, kick, etc.)
Give these a try and let me know what you think. HAVE FUN!
