Workin' with 4 benches
This is a
Quad Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 1652)
Here is a portion of a Quad Bench class I taught this week.
Benches are set up like this about 2 1/2 feet (3 size 8 shoes) apart and are called
front of room
XXXXXX XXXXXX
Home Black
XXXXXX XXXXXX
Away White
back of room
Here goes...
COMBO 1
- Starting on Home right lead:
- Alternating kick 2x's (8)
- Right foot mambo on floor cha cha to Black (4)
- Left lead over top of black (4)
- BIG walk to back of White (4)
(***The back of the bench is the side to the back of the room
the front is the side to the front of the room)
- Double-turn White to Away (8)- this is a turn on White travel to Away and turn
- Diagonal over Away walk to Black (4)
- Ready for combo 2
****This will self reverse but you will add on the following:
COMBO 2
- This can be taught with right lead and will not self reverse BUT....
I will start with Left lead as if you have already hooked to Combo 1:
- On Black left lead:
- 1/2 L-step (4) Across 2x's travel - across Black across Home (8)
- Reverse 1/2 L-step (1/4 pivot back) go to Away (4)
- 1/2 L-step (4) Across 2x's travel - across Away across White (8)
- Reverse 1/2 L-step go to Black for Combo 3
COMBO 3
- This combo is 64 counts long it also does not self reverse but it will
hook onto Combo 2.
- On Black left lead:
- Knee-straddle-knee exit (8)
- Repeater knee around end go to White (8)
- Over White (4) Walk to Away (4)
- Hop turn over Away (4) Over Home (4)
(end of first 32)
- Double turn straddle (turn on Home, turn straddle on Black) (8)
(this is the tricky part)
- Turn diagonal turn (8) (from the straddle right foot turn Black counts 1,2
step down 3,4 turning into right shoulder moving diagonally back to the back
side of Away
- Right foot turnstep on Away(4)
- Over Away (4) Over Home (4)
- LONG walk to back side of Black (4) (you got to move on this, you're on the
front side of home and you have to walk forward past the front side of Black
and around to end up on the back side of Black
- Right foot turnstep on Black (end of 2nd 32)
You made it!!! Now it's time to repeat the whole thing from Combo 1 starting with
left lead
This is really like one long Combo but to teach I break it up into 3 sections
otherwise we all get brain over load!
Let me know how it goes. GOOD LUCK!!!
