Putting Movement into Motion
This is a
Hi/Lo pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 1377)
This is a Hi/Lo pattern beginning with a right lead
- Walk up and back 1X (8)
- Step touch 2X (8)
- Grapevine 4X (16)
- Alternating Hamstring Curls 4X (8)
- Repeat Hamstring Curl (curling left leg) 4X (8)
- Alternting Hamstring Curls 4X (8)
- Repeat Hamstring Curl (curling rigth leg) 4X (8)
- Double Step Touch 2X (8)
- V Step 2x (8)
- Double Step touch 2X (8)
- V Step 2X (8)
- Jumping Jacks (any variety) 4X (8)
- Jumping Jacks with squat 2X (8)
- Jumping Jacks (any variety) 4X (8)
- Jumping Jacks with squat 2X (8)
- Repeat from top with a left lead.
Now your class members are in "moving", but are they really in
"motion"? Add some direction to these moves. You can make a box
with the 4 grapevines - grapevine right with a quarter turn (facing side
wall now), grapevine left with a quarter turn (facing back now),
grapevine right with a quarter turn (facing other side wall now) and
grapevine left with a quarter turn to face you back to the front.
Take the first set of Alternating Hamstring curls up to the front of the
room, hold for the repeater, move back with the second set of
Alternating Hamstring Curls and again hold for the repeater.
Again adding quarter turns you can make the Double Step Touches
in the shape on an L. Double Step Touch to your right with a quarter
turn (now facing side wall) and the Double Step Touch left followed
by your V-steps. Take the Double Step Touches back to starting
point follwed by V-steps.
You can also take your Jumping Jacks and turn around as you Jack,
but you do need to watch that your class members don't get dizzy.
I like to start my class out with out the direction changes just to
establish the pattern. I often use it this way as a warmup for step
classes.I hope you enjoy it, my classes really seemed to like it.
