This is a
Warmup pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 3061)
Although this makes a good warmup, and a good ice-breaker with a
new class, I also use it in hi/lo routines when we're getting
bored! I also have to credit Sheila Wagstaff with this little
snippet, it's not my own work...
You don't just need the counts for this, you need the words too!:
Stride forward for 8 counts. While doing this say...
- "Out, in, chop your tum.." (4 counts)
- On 'out' takes arms to side
- On 'in' bring arms in so elbows are bent, and side
of the hands are resting on your abs, one above the other.
- On 'chop your tum' swap the hands 3 times quickly, so
it looks like a chopping movement on your abs.
- "Up, down, feel your bum!"
- On 'up' take arms straight over the head.
- On 'down' take arms down, and hands to rest at top of
the glutes.
- On 'feel your bum' run hands briskly down up down,
over the glutes.
- Step tap right and left x4 (8)
- Repeat travelling backwards.
You can travel this anywhere in the room, and if you're short of
space, walk forward for four and back for four. It's a good upper
and lower body warm up without realising it, as long as you make
sure the movements are really big. And don't let your class get
away with not saying the words!
The English are supposed to be reserved, but my lot love a giggle
in class - let me know how transatlantic exercisers get on!
