Val's Holiday Step
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 3649)
Horizontal step:
Block 1 right lead
- Turnstep 2 (8)
- Peg leg 4 moving down the step (8)
- Hop turn around tip (4)
- Repeater hamstring (8)
- Over the top (4)
Self-reversing.
Block 2 left lead
- Side leg lift, straddle down, side leg lift, exit to
opposite side (8)
- Hop turn to straddle down (4) (right lead)
- A-step (left lead), exit left (4)
- Mini turnstep (4)
- Back diagonal (4)
- Side leg lift, straddle down, side leg lift, exit. (8) Should
be back where you started. Can split this into 2 pieces to
build, then add together.
Block 3 left lead
- Diagonal (4)
- Reverse V-step (4): From diagonal, tap down. Right foot up
facing front of room, left foot up into V step. Basic down,
right left.
- Basic up right left (2)
- Right foot tap down off tip, tap up (2)
- Right foot tap down off tip, into knee lift, hop turn to start
position (4)
- Split knee repeater (8) right knee lifts, left foot lunges over step,
right knee lifts, exits off right tip of step.
- Over long(4)
- L-step back to start position (4)
Can also split this into two 16 counts to build, then add together.
Block 4 -still on left lead!
- Turn, straddle, turn, but stay on top (6)
- Lunge, lunge on other side (4)
- Double lunge, exit (6)
- A-step, turnstep (8)
- Diagonal, hop turn around tip (8)
Again, should be back at starting position.
Only block 1 is self-reversing, so teach this as a building block
pattern. Blocks 2, 3, and 4 are complicated, so I usually teach the
first 16 counts, go back to block 1 and leave it there until they've
got it, then add the second 16 counts. Please email me if you've
got questions. Thanks to Gay Gasper for a lot of the moves I've
stolen and made my own!
