More Hard Core-ography!

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 3772)

Step is horizontal, right lead.

Pattern One:

Repeat other lead.

Explanations:

  1. 2-Tap basic...right lead, tap right heel on step, then left, then regular basic right. I call this a 2-tap, but my advanced students actually do 4 fast-taps, then a basic right. You could even do 2 fast taps on the step and two fast taps on the floor to the side, to jazz it up even more.
  2. Spider...with a right lead, step on step (1), lift left knee (2), step left foot on floor at left end of step, like an L-step; when you land, though, hop a little and turn away from the step towards the back of the room (3), lift right knee, facing the back (4), right foot comes to floor, still facing the back (5), left knee lifts, still facing the back (6), left foot comes to floor, you are beginning to angle back to facing the end of the step (7), right knee lifts, you are facing the end of the step now, almost facing front but not quite...you should be in position to safely go across the top the long way, or perform the "slow slide" (8)
  3. Slow slide...from left end of step, right foot steps up, then the left (you are facing front of room) (1-2), right foot steps out wide and holds for a beat; shake your bootie! (3-4), left foot steps to right and holds a beat, still shaking (5-6), right foot steps down on right end of step, followed by the left (7-8). To jazz this up some, counts 3-6 can be replaced by two jacks, moving towards the right end. Hard to describe this, so I won't even try!
Follow the slow slide by tapping left and marching all the way around the step and back to "home", the place where you did the 2-tap basic.

Pattern Two:

Repeat left lead.

Explanations:

  1. Knee-push with 3 lunges...right lead. Facing the left corner of step, right foot steps up (1), left knee lifts (2), left foot taps floor (3), left foot steps up on step beside right (facing left wall) (4), right foot steps down on front of step, turning slightly to face the step and the back of the room (5), left foot comes to floor in a wide step, facing the back of the room now (6), right foot comes to top of the step, facing the now left wall and left end of step (7), left foot comes up beside the right (8), right foot lunges on right side of step and comes back up (9-10), left foot lunges on left side of step and comes back up (11-12), right foot lunges on right side of step and comes back up (13-14), left foot steps down on left side of step, closest to mirror, angling so you are facing the back of the room again (15), right foot comes down to floor in a wide step; you are facing the back of the room (16). You are in a position for the next move:
  2. Over the top with two stepouts...go over the top of the step towards the back of the room, left lead (4), then swing your left leg out 2 times, like a low-impact jumping jack (4). Repeat the move on the right lead, which puts you back on the mirror side of the step. After the last two stepouts, you are ready to begin the pattern with the knee-push with 3 lunges, left lead. You'll be on the mirror (front) side of the step when you begin.

Pattern Three:

Repeat left lead.

Explanations:

  1. Pony up, pony down, two floor ponies...you could actually do this move using a side step up and down, two step touches on the floor, but this is more fun! With a right lead to the left corner, do a pony step on top (1-2-3 run on top), left lead pony back on the floor (no tap!), pony on the floor to your right, facing the front, then pony on the floor to your left, still facing front. You end up ready for the two repeater knees - march around the step - right lead!

Pattern Four:

Repeat left lead.

Explanations:

  1. Pump-shuffle straddle...right foot steps on left corner of step, lifting left foot off floor (1), left foot touches floor where it began (2), right foot steps to floor on other side of step, facing left wall, quickly performing a cha-cha-cha straddling the step (3-4).
  2. Pump-shuffle side...still in straddle position, perform the same move with a left lead, but the cha-cha-cha (shuffle) is on the mirror side of the step, facing the back of the room.
  3. Pump-shuffle straddle...same as number one, right lead, only now you are on the mirror (front) side of the step, facing the back of the room and the left end of the step. You should end up straddling, facing the left wall. Then with a left lead, go up and over the top.
Note: this is very advanced. Teach and preview the moves carefully, and take your time! If you have any unusual moves, I'd love to trade with you! Email me!
