"Twist and Shoot"
This is a
Hi/Lo pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 3801)
These combos were actually extracted from a few girls trying to make
a very simple pattern into something higher intensity and more fun
to work with and teach.
**Twist and shoot consists of making a quick 90 degree turn, putting
left or right foot out in front and then you bounce back immediately
so you are facing front again (2 count). You must remember to tap off
that grapevine right before going into the twist and shoot. The twist
consists of two counts and the grapevine the other four. After
twisting, you have to shoot. It's what I call "shoot the hoop."
It consists of a calf raise while your arms are up in the air as if
you are shooting a basketball.
A. 32 count
- Grapevine right, tap- 2 curls (8 count)
- Grapevine left, tap- 2 curls (8 count)
- Grapevine right, tap- twist and shoot** (8 count)
- Grapevine left- twist and shoot (8 count)
B. 32 count
- Walk up 4- right out, out, in, in (that last "in",
tap to lead left) (8 count)
- Walk back 4 (left lead)- left out, out, in, in (8 count)
- Walk up 4- out, out, in, left knee up (8 count)
- Walk back 4- out, out, in, right knee up (8 count)
C. 32 count
(this combo is broken down for next one)
- Double walk up (walk up 4, hop, walk up 4) (8 count)
- Step touch back 4 (8 count)
- 4 Hamstring curls
- 1x Mambo (4 count)
- Mambo front, cha-cha-cha (4 count)
Repeat this with left lead
D. 32 count
(similar to last combo, added variety)
- Double walk up (walk up 4, hop turn facing back wall, walk
backwards for 4) (8 count)
- Scoop back for 4 (8 count)
- 4 Hamstring curls, turning right to face front wall (8 count)
- Tri-mambo front (2 count), side (2 count), back (2 count),
cha-cha-cha (2 count)
Repeat D with left lead
E.
After you have gone through all, you can go back and repeat
the second half of A, second half of B, and go through D two times
switching leads. I tried to give you all an idea on how to break
the patterns down. They obviously can be broken down even more. If
you have any questions, please email me! Now "shake it up
baby now. Twist and Shoot!"
