June's February Jam
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 2062)
Approach: Front
All 32 count blocks
All blocks (except one) are self-reversing. The entire class is also
self-reversing.
All blocks are presented on right lead.
Complicated pieces are broken down beat by beat. Simpler pieces are
presented in 8 or 16 beat chunks at a time.
Some of the moves may look familiar - I'd credit the author(s), but
I don't remember who they are! Thanks, whoever you are!
Block A (self-reversing)
- Step up right (1) kick left 2 beats (2-3) step down left (4),
step down right (5) step up left (6) kick right 2 beats (7-8)
- Step down right to right side of step (1) tap down left (2)
one jack (3-4) go across the top the long way to left end of step (5-8)
- Single side lift right lead tap down, knee lift off back of step (8)
- Now on left lead, step up left and right, lunge back left and right,
step down left and right (8)
Block B (self-reversing)
- Step tap to corners, right lead then left (you can do a "cha-cha"
to the corners to add intensity) (8)
- Right lead, "L-step tick tock" as follows: step up right (1), left
knee up (2) squat down left to left side of step (3-4), LEFT foot
steps up on step while right foot swings out to right side (5 - "tick"),
right foot steps on step while left foot swings out to left
side (6 - "tock"), step down off back of step left, right (7-8)
- V-step left lead, ham curl left lead (optional pivot over step (8)
- V-step right lead, ham curl right lead (optional pivot back) (8)
Block C (self-reversing)
- Right lead: L-step off left end of step into 3 count squat, cross
top into another 3 count squat, cross top into another 3 count squat,
knee lift off back of step. (16)
- Left lead: 4 basics, or a power variation of basics. (16)
- What I usually do with this block is to run through it 5 times: the
first time I do 4 basics. The second time I do 4 step hops. The
third time I do 4 jogs. The fourth time I do 4 leaps on top. The
fifth time I do one of each variation of basic. Then when I add it
back into the finished class, I only do it with one of each type of
basic. This is not complicated, but it is very challenging!
Block D (self-reversing)
- Right lead: Single kick to corner (1-4), one rock step left lead (5-6),
step up on top left and right (7-8). Facing right side of room,
lunge left, right, left, step down right tap left (9-16)
- Left lead: Double repeater knee to a step lunge, step lunge (8)
- Right lead: Over top, walk around step (or hop pivot) left lead (8)
Block E (NOT self-reversing)
- Right lead: turnstep one time, face back of room and grapevine
left. You are back where you started. (8)
- Right lead: Knee lift off end of step, then left lead knee lift off
front of step (8)
- Repeat the above 16 counts on the left lead facing the back of the
room. (16)
Block F (self-reversing)
- Right lead: Six count over the top. Right foot up (1), left foot
up (2), right foot down on front of step (3) left foot steps UP on
step (4), right foot steps up on step (5), left foot steps down on
back of step (6), march right, left (7-8)
- Back lifts to corners, right lead then left (8)
- Right lead: 3 knees on top of step, step down left and right (8)
- Left lead: "Funky V-step" Step up left (1), step up right (2), hop
together (3), hop wide (4), hop together (5), left knee lifts (6),
step down left and right (7-8).
