Vertical Challenge
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 1895)
Your step needs to be vertical. Start on the left side of the step.
Combo 1
- Mambo (right foot) (4)
- "Boxer's Jog" (triple on top of step) (8)
- Over with triple (over top with ball-change on floor) 2x (16)
- Knee of end (left knee comes up & step off small end) (20)
- V-step on floor (end on top of step) (24)
- Alternate lunges 3x, exit right side (32)
- Facing the front of the room, repeat with left lead.
Combo 2
- Charleston 2x (8)
- Over the top (12)
- Half turn (you might know it as hop turn) (16)
- Horseshoe (turn straddle turn) (24)
- Over with straddle (32)
- You are now facing the back of the room. Repeat with left lead.
Combo 3
- Alternate travelling knees 2x (corners) (8)
- Rocking horse (curl, knee, curl, knee) (16)
- Up on top of step & alternate lunges 6x (lunge while turning to your
left. You lunge right-left in each direction)(face front, face side,
face back, then exit right) (32)
- You are now facing the back of the room. Repeat with left lead.
Combo 4
- You should now be facing front on the left side at the back corner
of the step.
- Double knee (4)
- Walk around the step backwards (8) (Your back is leading when you walk.
You do not turn around to walk forward)
- A-Step (Like an over the top but form an A when you go over) (12)
- Diagonal (corner to corner) (16)
- Over the top (20)
- Turnstep 3x (32)
- Repeat with left lead. You are now facing the back of the room.
Combo 5
- 6 Count turn (8) (turnstep, barely lift foot off step and turnstep again
coming completely off step) (Basically, right, left, left, right and step off)
- Mambo (12)
- Shuffle turn (16) (1 foot on step, 1 foot on floor - 2 shuffles and turn)
You are now facing the back of the room
- Knee off the end (20)
- Knee off the side of bench (24)
- Over with lunge (32) (over, lunge right-left & exit right)
- You are still facing the back of the room. Repeat with left lead.
Combo 6
- Facing the front of the room on the left side of step.
- Turnstep (4)
- Turn straddle (8)
- Triple right knee (16)
- Diagonal (corner to corner) (20)
- Over the top (24)
- Single leg side 2x (abductor) (32)
- You are facing the front on the right side of the step. Repeat with
left lead. My classes found this extremely challenging and fun.
