Hi! Here's the latest in Kim W's step moves submissions. My thanks again to
all the great instructors, workshops and friends I've gotten these moves
from. You're an inspiration to all of us! Please email me for further
explanation on any moves you are unable to understand. Look for issue
#5 soon. Enjoy and keep steppin......
- 1. Pump Squat - approach from side or end. Peg leg (see previous Kim
W's step moves for explanation), X 3, step to top of step, 8 counts
total.
- 2. Knee-Squat Side - approach from side or end. Knee up, squat out-
side leg on floor, bring back together with inside leg, 8 counts total.
- 3. Richocette - approach from side. Double knee lift with a jack.
On double knee left, flip over to other side after 1st knee lift and
touch other side on floor, come back to where you are and jack X 1
on floor, 8 counts total.
- 4. 1/2 Straddle Down - approach from side. Right leg up, then left
leg up (like you are doing a turnstep), straddle down right, then
left, bring right leg up as you are turning to face front of room
(like a reverse basic step), then bring left leg up and exit step,
8 counts total.
- 5. V-Tap Back - approach from front. Right foot up in a V-pattern,
left foot up, right foot lunges to floor (legs are spread apart on
step like a V-step), left leg lunges to floor, exit step completing
your V-step, 8 counts total.
- 6. Diagonal-Double Knee - approach from side end. Do a corner to
corner (or diagonal as some call it), instead of tapping down on other
side of step, do a 2-knee repeater, the exit step to side or straddle
down, 8 counts total.
- 7. Backfire - approach from side. Facing side of step, go to top of
step (horizontally), lunge right and foot, then exit step
horizontally, 8 counts total.
- 8. Skate, Hopturn - approach from front. Go to top of step and do
two alternating hamstring curcls, then hop turn to side and tap down
with last hamstring curl. EX: Right foot up, curl left, left foot
down, curl right, right down, hop turn to right and tap down on side
of step, 8 counts total.
- 9. Squat Hop - approach from side. Leg to step and squat, go to top
of step and hop X 2 on top of side (can repeat by squatting down to
floor with opposite lead, exiting and hopping X 2 on floor on other
side of step, 4 counts total with one leg, 8 counts total repeating on
both sides.
- 10. Pivot Walk - approach from side (all on floor, doesn't use step).
Walk X 2 on floor with inside foot, then pivot (you will be on same
side of step facing opposite wall), 4 counts
- 11. Turn-Straddle-Run - approach from side. Turnstep into a straddle
down, run quick X 3 in straddle position, come to top of step and
hold (hold 1-count), 8 counts total.
- 12. L-Straddle - approach from front. Single knee lift off end, lift
knee on side of end, as this leg goes back to step, turn, left
outside leg and straddle your step, 8 counts total.
- 13. Jack Knife - approach from side. Step kick, opposite foot toe
taps on opposite side of step on floor, then kick again and either
tap down on side of step or straddle down. EX: Step right foot up
to step, kick left, left to floor, tap right toe on opposite side of
step on floor, right foot on top of step, kick left, 8 counts total.
- 14. Squat-Kick - approach from side. Turnstep (counts 1-2), squat on
bench/floor X 2 (counts 3-6), kick outside foot on count 6 (pushing off
from last squat so you can kick leg), exit step to side (counts 7-8),
8 counts total.
- 15. Diagonal Turn-approach from side end. Corner to corner (or
diagonal), straddle step, opposite foot toe taps on other side on
floor, then hop turn to other side of step. EX: Right foot up,
left foot up, right foot to floor, left toe taps down on opposite
side of step, hop turn with left foot (you'll be on same side you
started on, but facing opposite wall), 8 counts total.
