Sumo Wrestler
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 2930)
Bench is horizontal and you are facing it.
First 8 count:
- Step on bench as if making a right V-step (count no 1). At same
time, right arm circles in front of body and slaps down on right
thigh and stays there. Pause for count number 2.
- While right leg is on bench and bent at a 20 degree angle and
right hand is on thigh, step up with left foot as if making a left
V-step, circle left arm in front of body and slap down on left thigh.
This all occurs on count number 3 and pause for count number 4.
- With hands on thighs and knees bent at ~20 degrees at all
times, squat down on count number 5, lift right knee and tilt body to
left for count 6, squat back down on count number 7, and then lift
left knee and tilt body right on count number 8.
Second and third 8 counts:
- Repeat last move for the second and third sets of 8 counts
(i.e., right, left, right, left, right, left, right, left knees)
Fourth 8 count:
- Repeat Sumo while exiting:
- Squat on bench for count number 1, lift right knee and tilt body on count
number 2, coming back down to squat on count number 3 but bring right
foot to floor instead of down on bench and keep left foot on bench.
Lift left knee and tilt body right on count number 4. Return to squat
but bring left foot to floor on count number 5. Straighten body on
count number 6, bow to bench on count number 7 and 8.
A great low impact ending pattern to do as transition to cool down.
This concentrates on inner thighs. Use also in interval class with weights
in hands and resting on thighs at all times.
