Interactive Climb
This is a
Cycling pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 2713)
This is a short pattern, so I usually let one of my students decide the
number of times we repeat it. Try to pick a student that is familiar with
your class and one that won't pick a "wimpy" number.
- Standing (upright) climb for a count of 8
- Seated climb for a count of 8
- Standing (upright) climb for a count of 8
- Seated climb for a count of 8
- Standing (upright) climb for a count of 16
- Standing (hands at ends of handlebars, butt over seat [I tell them
they should look like the number "7"]) climb for a count of 16
- Sprint (either still in the "7" position or seated, whichever works
best for the individual) for a count of 16
- Recover for about 20 seconds
- Repeat
I use a scale of 1-10 when talking about resistance. (10 being the heaviest)
For the climbs I tell them to be at a resistance level of 6 or 7 and for the
sprint I tell them to drop to a 4 or 5 if they are still standing or a 1 or
2 if they choose to sit.
The amount of time this takes depends on the speed of your music because we
count to the beat of the music. Sometimes I have my more "enthusiastic"
students count out the segments for us.
My class really enjoys this and sometimes tries to outdo each other. For
example, if we repeated this 7 times last class and the person I pick to
decide for us this class remembers, they try to make us go 8 or 9 times.
Good luck, enjoy and if you have any questions, email me.
