Kim W's Horizontal Double
This is a
Double Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 2226)
Benches are horizontal, 2 feet apart. Legend = front and back bench.
See end for explanations for unfamiliar steps. Start is front bench,
right lead.
Block 1
- Alternating knees X 1 set (8)
- 2-Knee repeater, march X 4 on floor, switch to back bench (8)
- Inside loop (8)
- Knee volley bench to bench (8)
Block 2
- Knee straddle, over and exit to right (8)
- Turn-straddle-turn (8)
- Corner to corner (4)
- Hop turn to other side (4)
- Over the top (4)
- Jumping jack X 2 in center of both benches (4)
Block 3
- Knee lift X 2 on one leg on front bench (8)
- Hop turn, squat with outside leg on floor (8)
- Turn with double lunge, finish turn (8)
- March forward/back on floor (8)
Block 4
- A-step, straddle, exit to right, switch to back bench (8)
- Inside loop (8)
- 2-Knee repeater, straddle march X 4 (you are astride bench) (8)
- Knee lift right knee, face front (4)
- Basic right (you are on back bench, facing front of room) (4)
Block 5
- Skate on top X 3 (3-hamstring curls) (8)
- L-step on right end of bench (8)
- Over-over top (see end) (8)
- Take a hike to front bench, go over top (8)
Block 6
- Knee straddle, tap left leg on other side of bench, over top to left,
exit to left side (8)
- Peg leg x 2 (4)
- Hop turn (4)
- A-step X 2 on front bench only (8)
- Grapevine right to back bench end (4)
- Jumping jack X 2 facing end (4)
Block 7
- 1/2 Tempo to top (right lead) (4)
- March right X 4 on top (or mambo right on top) (4)
- Straddle down/up X 2 (8)
- Lunge right-left-right, exit left, switch to front bench (8)
- Over top of front bench, march X 4 to other side of front bench (8)
Block 8
- Around the world on front bench (16)
- V-step right, switch to back, v-step on back, switch to front (8)
- Basic right (4)
- Knee lift left X 1 (4)
You are ready to begin front top with left lead from Block 1.
Remember, after your grapevine to back bench, begin 1/2 tempo up with the
same lead you started your grapevine on. EX: grapevine right, 1/2 tempo up
right. This will enable you to begin march with correct lead so you can exit
and over the top on the front bench.
-Inside loop: turn, switch, turn, switch (you are back on bench you
started inside loop on).
-Knee volley: alternating knee lifts starting in center of both benches,
you will end up at bench you started on.
-Squat with outside leg: after hop turn, tap down with left leg, squat with
outside right leg (1/2 tempo), bring back together with left leg.
-Over-over top: some call this a revolving door. Over the top twice with the
same lead leg, no tap down, an 8 count move.
-Take a hike: step, step, step ball change (automatically changes lead leg),
a 4 count move.
