February Fun
This is a
Hi/Lo pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 2227)
This pattern worked very well for my low impact class, hope you enjoy it as
well!
- Mambo cross over, cha cha cha, on the diagonal,
right, left, right, left (16)
- I'll repeat this several times than give the option of changing the
last mambo on the left to a pivot cha, cha, cha
- Step touch right & left 8 x's (16), this needs to be cued in advance
so they get out of diagonal mode, single step touches become doubles
4 x's (16), can power this up by squatting into it, this becomes a
single, single double step touch, repeated 4 x's (32). Once the class
knows the routine, can eliminate the single and double step touches and
go right into the single, single, double.
- From here grapevine right & left 4 x's, walk to the right wall and back
up, repeat, grapevine right & left 4 x's facing the right wall, walk
the the back wall and back up, repeat until facing the front of the room.
- Facing the front, walk to the left corner with a right lead, left heel
dig at the corner, back up, walk through center and repeat to the right
corner with a left lead, right heel dig, do again and add a kick
instead of a heel dig to the left corner with a R ld and the right
corner with a left lead.
- Come out of this into a hamstring curl facing front, again cueing to
step right, do single curls with power arms pressing down, these curls
become a single, single, double, for variety on the double you can tap
out in front with an arm punch, a very fun move. I'm eliminating the
counts here because it depends on the class how much repetition you
need...that's usually what I go by, that and the musical phrase.
- Grapevine, right, left, right, step touch 2 x's, grapevine, left, right,
left, step touch 2 x's, when ready add direction, grapevine right, face
right wall, hold that direction for left & right grapevine, face front
for step touch, grapevine left, face left wall, hold for grapevine
right & left, step touch to mirror.
I really appreciate this service especially as an instructor on an island where we have limited exposure to workshops. Thanks so much for the
ideas you've given me, hope that my choreography is equally useful to someone.
