Thump Thump Thump

This is a Cycling pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 2495)

My goal was to increase the revolutions per minute over a long distance/time. I have found that the bursting/sprinting doses not increase the rider's cadence over time.

I bought a battery powered metronome that thumps out beats per minute. It was $30 (at a local music store) and it has a earphone plug that I use to amp the sound over a second set of speakers.

I did a collection of songs, all classical music from a CD called "Mozart for Your Morning Commute."

The classical music is helpful because the riders can focus on the metronome and not the lyrics of the music. Also the songs are 5-8 minutes, which helps in endurance.

I alternated between sitting and standing rides with the metronome thumping out the revolutions per minute. The resistance level is very light with the focus on maintaining the cadence. I cued the riders to use the resistance to monitor their speed.

Warm Up:

Hints: You'll find that standing and doing 80 RPM is a real killer.
