American Pie

This is a Cycling pattern from (pattern 2544)

I tried this pattern in cycling last night and my students loved it.

As you know (as instructors) it is more difficult to talk and ride so I incorporated singing into a cycling drill. It was a lot of fun. First, it has to be done to the song "American Pie" which most people from the age of 25-50 know the words to (at least the chorus). The song is 8:30 long. I started out sitting with a fast cadence.

Then sit and recover and start again. It requires some timing but you can skip steps or shorten the duration so that you are standing with a bounce when the chorus comes. The chorus is repeated at least 5 times. I used it as the last song because it slows down at the end. So the last time through we were sitting again and sang quietly as we did our final recovery for the class.

Of course you could substitute any classic rock song. My students loved it.
