More Instructor Tips

It is a good idea to share tips. After so many years of teaching you can
get stale or forget to stay on top of things:
- If you are new to teaching, be sure you are very familiar with
the "Down Beat". If you are not, talk to an experienced
instructor and really learn how to follow it.
- When you have new students, make sure you break everything
down, sometimes using 1/2 time tempo, don't worry about the
advanced people, they know how to keep their heartrate up,
and also remember what it was like to start out new.
- Change your music, change your music!! People get so sick of
the same tapes. For a change, use "real" music for warm ups,
cool downs, and floor work.
- Brush up on stretching techniques. Watch some yoga shows,
take a dance class, and get some new stetches for the end
of class. This should be a relaxing time also, so I use Kenny
G or other soothing music.
- Remember names of your students and use them.
