People's Choice
This is a
Cycling pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 3437)
I like to play a game with every song. I have entitled this one
'People's Choice'. I start off with a standing climb for 20
seconds (or whatever I choose) and then ask one of the participants
what they would like to do for the next 20 seconds. For example,
John will want to sprint for 20 seconds. I tell the class to follow
John's lead and do a sprint. Then I will advise the next
participant, let's say Carol that her turn will be next. I ask
Carol what she would like to do and she might say - a seated climb
with more tension. I think you get the idea by now.
I find that this session can be very intense because no one wants
to be outdone by the others. However, I usually get one individual
(thank goodness) that will want to recover for 20 seconds. I have
participants who say 'pick me next' because they want/need to do
a recovery.
This pattern also gives me the chance to get off of my bike and
walk about the room (my headset is attached to my bike), asking the
individual's names and advising them that I will be calling upon them
in the next 5 seconds for their pattern.
I hope you try this pattern and please let me know if it works for
you. Also, if any of you have any other simple patterns that you use
please submit them. I like to vary my class each week and would like
to extend my repertoire.
Happy cycling! (Email me with any questions/comments)
