Lovin' The Letter "L"
This is a
Double Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 3230)
L-Step
The benches should be placed in an upside down (like an F without
the bottom horizontal line) so that when facing the mirror,
your LEFT leg is next to both benches which form a ninety
degree angle. That is, a bench in front of you, and a bench
on your left side. This is the HOME position. I refer to the
benches as FRONT and SIDE, so that when you turn to your left to
lead with other foot (a bench in front of you and one to your
right), you can still use the terms FRONT and SIDE.
- Facing mirror, FRONT bench, 2 basic left (moving right),
one pivot on floor, one knee up and off, walk 2 to inside
of other bench, repeat with right lead moving left to end
of bench for pivot (16)
- Repeat whole sequence again for 32 counts, end
up facing front of room, alternating basic x 2 FRONT,
starting left foot
- 2 Abductors on SIDE bench (16)
To repeat facing other way, make second basic a turnstep and
go right into abductors, end with abductors facing front of
room
- Around the world starting left on SIDE (16)
- Without breaking footwork: continue on to FRONT bench
(far right) with one turn on floor, keep left lead and
do one more around-the-world (16)
- End at same place you began with one more around-the-world,
and after turning to FRONT bench, continue on to next
move (this is really fun, and fluid once students learn
the turn to the front bench)
- Corner knees x 4 starting with left leg toward far right of
FRONT bench, walk to far left of SIDE bench, similar to
what's called Knee Volley (32)
- Variation: Add a pop off (or unfold) to outside when coming off
each bench
- Last knee is on SIDE bench, finish with small U-turn back to
same bench
- Rock straddle x 4 left lead, on 4th one you'll be on left side
of SIDE bench, 1 back step (ball change), then walk around
both benches 8 counts to back side of FRONT bench facing
SIDE bench; repeat rock straddle on right foot, 4th count
will be on mirror side, 1 back step (ball change), walk
around 8 and repeat once more through (24)
- End by walking around mirror bench to HOME 4 knees (16)
- V-step right lead x 3, circle off to outside on last one,
facing back of room, squat with right leg on SIDE bench, 1
back step/ball change (16)
- Step kick to the corner of SIDE bench (4), then face
SIDE bench, repeat V-steps with left lead, squatting on
FRONT bench
There's lots more, but I am realizing just how much time it takes
to write a step sequence down! Good luck!
