Breakaway Training
This is a
Cycling pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 3252)
Simulating Tour de France breakaway training hill climb set up
- Rider imagines they are at back of pack (pack size
dependent on class size)
- Rider pictures yellow jersey at front of pack
- Begin hill climb at 20% gradually increasing to 60-80%
- About half way up start your break and pick up pace (pitch
helps here)
- Make way to front of pack passing one person at a time
and next to yellow jersey wearer
- You are at the top of the hill
- Reduce tension and spring down hill with yellow
jersey wearer
- Half way down there is a turn around, resume climb
- Reach top again (yellow jersey looking tired)
- Reduce tension and sprint down again, half a bike
lead, full bike lead...
- Final sprint to finish line
I will usually tell the participants that they are the rookie
or to visualize their number one fitness goal on the back of
the yellow jersey.
