This is a Cycling pattern from (pattern 4572)

We recently had the LA marathon. Prior to the runners, there were 12,000 cyclists who rode the race. The fastest time was 50 minutes, which is perfect for a class. If you have a marathon in your area, get yourself a map/description of the route then for the class.

I did this class on the day of the marathon and everyone loved it. I had about 30 people in the class and it kept everyones attention!

Let them know that you are going to ride the marathon. It's going to be an endurance run and you're not giving any breaks (rests) during the class.

Start with a warm up, then it's in to the race simulating the course. There are usually uphill spots in any race, so you can get a balance.

Call out the mileage about every two minutes e.g "mile 1" "mile 2".

Finish off the race with a sprint to the end.

You could also turn the whole class in to a Triathalon with a run, swim, bike combination.
