Hamstring Deadlifts

This is a Body Sculpting pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 5335)

This is a great move for anyone doing a combo body sculpt and step. As you know all the stepaholics have over developed quads and rarely work the hamstring much. This can lead to some problems for your clients in the future. Pulled hamstrings, lower back problems etc. Try adding the following:

Take just one riser out of your bench. Grab as much weight as your gym has available (10 pounds at least). Put your toes up on the edge of the riser. Hold 10 pounds (at least!) in each hand. Bending at the hip cueing for a flat back, head in neutral, lower the body slowly down and up. Tell them to feel the hamstring working as well as glutes. The butt/legs go slightly past the vertical. I like the class to get the feel of this slowly for 4 reps and then up/down to tempo at 4 count. I also add pulsing at the BOTTOM to intensify this move. If you have any questions, please email me!
