Sports Tribute
This is a
Hi/Lo pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 4164)
During the Olympics in my hometown of Atlanta several years ago,
I came up with a different way of doing a hi/lo class. I just
incorporate different sports moves with traditional hi/lo moves.
After we've done 6 or 7 that I've come up with, I have the
members yell out a type of sport, and then we make up a move to
go with it.
For example:
- Grapevine "bowl" right (1-4)
(do a traditional grapevine, but add a lunge with
the left leg behind, as you "bowl" with the left arm)
- Repeat to left (5-8)
- Step close "tennis" moving forward (1-8)
(swing arms in a forehand and backhand style)
- Shuffle right "basketball" (1-8)
(shuffle 1-4, then standing in place do 2
"jump shots")
- Repeat to left (1-8)
- Floorwalk "football" forward and back (1-8)
(put your arms in defensive positions at chest)
- Zig zag "soccer" (1-8)
(walk diagonally to right corner 1-3, then kick on
4; walk diagonally to left corner 5-7, then kick on 8)
There are lots more, obviously, and your class members will
LOVE being involved in helping you think some up.
I love this website - thanks for all your hard work, Greg! Thanks
to everyone who submits patterns. I use them all the time.
