Tapless In Vegas
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 4309)
32 Count, self-reversing, advanced skill level, tapless, horizontal.
- L Swing (12)
- Flip (4)
- Double jump repeater down-down (6)
- Slingshot (6)
- Sidewinder (4)
Note, there is a lot of "buying and selling" beats in this
pattern. It all adds up to two 16 count patterns that can
be taught separately. Some of the groupings can't be broken
apart successfully. You may need to put the class in a
holding pattern and demonstrate for them. This is a trust
building pattern. It will be clear to them in the end.
Breakdown:
L Swing: an L-step where you stay at the side for 10 counts
before doing your down-down. The "swing" comes from the way
you swing your arms and legs from side to side. You can
intensify things by adding propulsion to these swings.
- (1) Right foot to west corner
- (2) Left knee lifts, arms shoot up
- (3) Left foot to floor off end
- (4) Right toes touch step, arms swing out to the west
- (5) Right foot steps on west end of step, left foot is
still on the floor
- (6) Left leg lifts to the side, arms swing to the east
- (7) Left foot steps down on the west end, right foot is
still on the step
- (8) Left foot is on the floor, right toes touch step as
in #4, arms swing to west
- (9) Right foot steps stongly on step in same place
- (10) Right foot hops into the push-off for the down-down,
left leg swings out to the west, arms swing to the east
- (11) Left foot down at home
- (12) Right foot down at home
- Flip: (13-16) A hop-turn to the front side of the step.
Left lead.
Double jump repeater down-down:
- (1-6) Right lead, a 2'peater jumping twice, down-down
- Slingshot:
- (7) Left foot up. You're facing west
- (8) Right foot up next to left foot
- (9) Left toes touch floor on home side
- (10) Left foot comes back up next to right foot
- (11) Right foot down on front side
- (12) Left foot down on front side. You are facing
the back of the room.
- Sidewinder: (13-16) an over-the-top without a tap.
Right foot on the step, Hop on right foot while left
leg lifts behind. Down left, down right
You can really pump up the heart rate by repeating the L Swing
and Flip over and over. The second one will happen with the
class facing the back of the room. That's exciting. But remember
that when you repeat it over and over, you're not changing leads
on the L-step. So when you eventually do your lead change, you
better treat that lead leg to the same number of repetitions. The
double jump/slingshot/sidewinder will change leads each time
if you repeat it in multiples.
Have fun with this. Email me if there's anything unclear. You
know how hard it is to translate the split-phrasing.
