More Tapless in Vegas
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 4315)
32 Count, self-reversing, advanced skill level,
100% tapless, horizontal.
- Repeater 2 down-down-up-up (8)
- Tap 1 straddle down & wave (8)
- Double kick repeater (8)
- Jog & kick (8)
The first 16 counts must be done as a unit. You may need to
put your class in a holding pattern and show them what
you're talking about. Begin right foot on west corner of step.
- (1-4) Repeater 2 right lead (any kind you like)
- (5-8) Down left, down right, up left, up right
(at east corner)
- (1) Left toes tap floor on front side of step, right
foot is still on the step
- (2) Left foot comes back to step next to right foot
- (3) Right foot straddles down on home side
- (4) Left foot straddles down on front side
Wave: syncopated over-the-top with no tap; 4 counts,
(5-8) 1-and-2, 3-4, (up-up-down-rock back). (You're on the
front side facing east)
- (5) Right foot to left corner
- (AND) Left foot replaces right foot on step
- (6) Right foot steps down on home side
- (7) Left foot steps behind right foot on floor
- (8) Right foot steps forward on floor (you are now
on the home side, facing east)
Double kick repeater down-down (8). A fun rhythm play.
Begin as a 3kick repeater, and grow it.
- (1) Left foot to east corner
- (2) Right knee pulls up
- (3) Right knee pulls up again
- (4) Right foot steps down strongly while left foot
lifts off step
- (5) Left foot to east corner
- (6) Right knee pulls up
- (7) Right foot down at home
- (8) Left foot down at home
Jog & kick (8) It's got to be done with knees lifting high,
a real heart pumper.
- (1) Right foot to eest corner, left knee lifts
- (2) Left foot to floor, right knee lifts
- (3) Right foot to floor on front side of step
- (4) Left foot to floor on home side, left knee lifts
- (5) Right foot to west corner, left knee lifts
- (6) Left foot kicks forward
- (7) Left foot down at home
- (8) Right foot down at home
You're now ready to begin pattern on left lead
Teach the "Wave" separately so your class is familiar with
it and can just drop it in. I like to do get the arms
involved in a kind of wave motion also.
The double kick repeater is something of a breather. On the
jog & kick, you need to really jump into the kick. It can be
as strenuous as you like. At least that's the way it goes
down in my class. Nobody leaves dry.
Have fun with this. My class loves it.
