Step Sports Conditioning
This is a
[Other] pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 4345)
Line up 8 to 10 steps (2 risers--total height of 8 inches)
(not end to end), and make a second row if necessary so that
there are at least as many steps as there are people in
the class.
- Part 1. Everybody on one step, straddle down and up as
quickly as possible, faster than the music. 1-2 minutes
- Part 2. Squats side to side (one leg on bench, other off
and squat, then step up and other foot off other side
and squat) 1-2 minutes
- Part 3. Everyone makes a line at beginning of bench line.
Approaching the bench from the side, over the top, then
next bench--over the top (as in the actual step move) all
the way down the line of benches. Each person goes through
4 times total (twice with one lead leg, then switch to other
lead leg) If you had more than one row of benches, have
more than one line of people.
Go through each "part" at least twice fora total of
10-15 minutes of cardio and strength conditioning. Very
important that people do the over the top from a SIDE
approach. Those of us who teach step all know that coming
down off the bench forward is bad biomechanically.
