Every side of the Step!
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 4771)
These are old patterns for me, but I thought I'd share them
anyway. They are are great if you are an instructor who likes
to use every side of the step. Keep em moving, I always say!
Pattern 1
- Basic right 3x moving to the left side of bench (12)
- L-off (or knee off, whatever you call it) (4)
- Over the long way 3x (12)
- Knee back to home position (4)
- Knee straddle around the world (16)
- Single knee side to side (8)
- Knee repeater left corner (4)
Repeat left lead
Pattern 2
- Right lead, straddle down 2x
- Basic 2x off the small right end, exit right
(*see below) (8)
- Turn 1x (facing back of room) (4)
- Diagonal 1x (4)
- Step touch turn around end of bench (or walk 4 counts
around end) (4)
- Power knee 1x (4)
Repeat starting with the left lead straddle, on north side of
bench, facing left wall (still).
Pattern 3
- Facing left wall, A-step over the top toward front
of room 1x (4)
- 2 Jacks (4)
- Turn/straddle/turn (8)
- 2 Knee repeater and walk behind 4 counts (or inside turn
in place of the walk) (8)
- 1 Hamstring curl (4)
- Over top 1x (4)
- Kick 2x (same direction) (8)
- Up and lunge right/left & exit 3x (24) (your final exit
should be to the North side of bench)
Repeat left lead
* In pattern 2, the basic 2x off the small end: you are facing
the left side of the room, utilizing the small end of the step;
after your second straddle, your feet come back on top of step,
right and left (counts 1,2), but instead of straddling down a
third time, your feet exit to the back, right and left, as though
you were coming down out of a basic (counts 3,4), then you go
back up as in a basic, right and left, (counts 5,6) and exit to
the right side of your bench, right and left (counts 7,8). This
sets you up perfectly for your turnstep! Any questions, please
feel free to email me anytime.
