Sweatin' Leopards II
This is a
Hi/Lo pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 5683)
Here's more from the physical education department
at Temple College in Temple, Texas.
My students tend to be somewhat out of shape, especially for
young people, and most of them have little to no experience
in rhythmic movement. I tend to keep combinations simple so
they can catch on without feeling inadequate. All of these
combinations are either 64-count or 32-count, and all are
right lead, left lead.
Hope you like these. Let me know if you have questions
and/or comments. Go LEOPARDS!
Combo 1 (64 counts)
- Walk forward 4 steps (4 counts)
- Half-jack right, left (4 counts)
- Walk backward 4 steps (4 counts)
- Half-jack right, left (4 counts)
- Repeat previous four moves with same lead leg
- Knees up, press arms up x 4 (4 counts)
- Kick front, press front x 4 (4 counts)
- Kick side**, press arms side x 4 (4 counts)
- Push up on toes, press arms up x 4 (4 counts)
Repeat with left lead.
** You can substitute a leg lift side for the kick side for
more challenging abductor work.
Combo 2 (32 counts)
- Grapevine right, tap left toe to side x 2, press arms
to side (8 counts)
- Step touch side to side (moving to left first) x 4,
pull arms down (8 counts)
- Left lead hustle front, back x 2, pull arms
down (16 counts)
Repeat with left lead.
Combo 3
- Heels down, press arms down, moving forward x 4 (8 counts)
- Sky knees, windshield wiper arms x 4 (8 counts)
- Heels down, press down, moving backward x 4 (8 counts)
- Power jack right, left (8 counts)
Repeat with left lead.
Have fun with these combinations! Those of you who teach
hi-low, please share with the rest of us. I have my students
work in groups to develop two combinations and I'll be
sharing some of those soon!
