Definitions:
Alternating front mambo: tap right foot front and thrust hips
forward pulling arms back, return right foot to start, tap
left foot front with hip thrust and arm pull.
1/2 Step hop turn: step right, hop on right foot and turn
pulling left knee up, step out with left foot, tap right foot.
Hesitate to side with "headache": step out to side turning head
toward shoulder and looking down while putting hand on forehead
then returning to center on 2nd count. (2)
Step hop mambo:
- 1 - Step out right foot to side
- 2 - Hop on right foot swinging left leg out and forward
- 3 - Mambo with left leg across front
- 4 - Return weight to right foot and lift left leg
Reverse mambo:
- 1 - Mambo (step) back with left foot
- 2 - Shift weight back to right foot again
- 3 - Mambo (step) with left across front again
- 4 - Shift weight back to right foot.
Box step: also called jazz square.
Cha-cha triple twist: first try it without the cha-cha-cha:
Step to side right, step across front with left, step out to
side right, mambo (step) back left foot. Like a grapevine
only crossing front with a step behind instead of a tap. Then
instead of only stepping the first three times, do a triple
step (cha-cha-cha). So the rhythm is 1&2 3&4 5&6 7 8. The
hips twist on the second step, hence the name "Triple
Twist".
Email me with any questions. Do this to an all Latin tape to
feel the rhythm move you. Suggest 132 - 136 bpm because of
all the cha-cha-cha's. Use big moves and you'll sweat.
I would like to see more ideas for Latin moves as I am
running out of ideas and I teach a Latin class.
