Nutbush City Limits
This is a
Hi/Lo pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 5435)
Teach this routine to any 70's music you like, but at the
end have the class do the whole routine to Tina
Turner's "Nutbush City Limits". This routine
has been choreographed to this song.
Section 1 (facing front of room)
- Double side tap right leg (4)
- Double side tap left leg (4)
- Double push back right leg (4)
- Double push back left leg (4)
- Double knee up right leg (4)
- Double knee up left leg (4)
- Single flick kick right leg (2)
- Single flick kick left leg (2)
- Two star jumps to face right wall (4)
Section 2 (facing right wall)
- One easy walk right leg (4)
- One pivot turn right leg (4)
- Twist on the spot (8)
- One grapevine right (4)
- Single step touch left (4
- One grapevine left (4)
- Single step touch right with a 1/4 turn to face
back wall (4)
Section 3 (facing back wall)
- Three alternative easy walks with a turn, starting
on your right leg and finishing with your left
shoulder facing the back wall (like a V-step) (12)
- Double grapevine with a flip on left leg towards
back wall (8)
- Walk forward towards back wall right leg (4)
- Two squat presses (4)
- Walk backwards right leg (4)
You are now ready to begin from section one again, this
should bring you back around to the front of the room.
I used this routine as a final product to the song
"Nutbush City Limits" by Tina Turner. My class
was structured as an interval class, ie. 5 minutes of
hi/lo followed by 5 minutes of step. Each 5 minute section
was used to build on the routine. I used music from the
seventies and everyone really enjoyed it. I also created
a step routine to the "YMCA" by the Village
People. Maybe one day I will show you that as well. If you
have any questions please email me.
