Kick Combo!
This is a
BoxAerobics pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 5480)
I find the best way to teach kicks and to lead into kick
combinations is by using a layering technique.
So to teach the front knee strike start with a heel dig
forward (8), progress to pulling down with arms (8) then
raise knee with arms (8) and finally release the
"energy" to explode into the movement (8).
The other kicks like the front kick and roundhouse, use
the same layering technique, so with front kick, raise
knee (8) take leg out, then back, then down (8) slow
movements repeat and then speed up and finally full
movements and release energy 8-16 counts
A great kick combo that gets the class going crazy is:
- 4 Front knee strikes travelling forward followed by
- 4 Front kicks travelling forward,
- 5 Roundhouse kicks rapid fire on one leg,
- Pendulum back to start and repeat on other leg.
You can also add this combo into a kata and design a
whole sequence which really gets them going and add
screams and shouts and you are set!!
Enjoy
