Sonia's ABC's of Step (Routine B)

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 8274)

This is an easy routine for beginning instructors or students. Combos are 32 count and self-reversing. Directions are for right foot lead. "Home" is on the south side facing north. Changes you could add later are in parenthesis. I give directions in a "map" formation. Starred choreography at end.

Combo 1

Repeat with a left lead or go to combo 2.

Combo 2

Repeat with a left lead or go to combo 3.

Combo 3

Repeat with a left lead or go to combo 4.

Combo 4

Repeat with a left lead or go to combo 5.

Combo 5

Repeat with a left lead or go to combo 6.

Combo 6

Repeat with a left lead or go to combo 7.

Combo 7

You can teach these by doing 4 or 6 or 8 moves instead of just 2 moves on any even numbered moves. On the repeaters or any move that does a lead change (all of the last moves in a combo) you do an uneven number of repetitions. For example: instead of 1 set of repeaters you would do 3 sets. Combo 1 choreography: All basic moves.

Combo 2 choreography:
Split V-step: (1,2) step up wide right and left, (3,4) tap right foot to floor diagonally and back to step, (5,6) tap left foot to floor diagonally and back to step, (7,8) down right, down left.

Front to back V-step: Step up as for V-step, as you come down turn to the back on counts 3,4. Do a V on the floor turning back to the step on counts 7,8.

Shuffle turns: Keep lead foot on the step and shuffle along the top on counts 1,2. Turn on the floor on counts 3,4 so left is to step and repeat.

Step touches on top: (1) step up right, (2) left toes touch right instep, (3) left foot steps wide on top of step, (4) right toes touch left instep, (5) right foot steps wide on top of step, (6) left toes touch right instep, (7,8) left steps to floor, right steps to floor.

Combo 3 choreography:
Split basic: (1,2) up right and up left, (3,4) right taps floor and steps back on top, (5,6) left taps floor and steps back on top, (7,8) right to floor, left to floor.

3 knees on top: Step up with lead foot and do 3 knee lifts stepping down on top. Exit step on 7, 8 to change lead. To add some pep you can do the knees in a skipping fashion.

Combo 4 choreograhpy:
Spirals: To spiral an over the top move simply turn on the floor when you exit instead of tapping down. This keeps your lead side to the step.

Karate kick: Kick out to the side instead of over the step.

Combo 5 choreography:
Turnover: (1) step up right and start to turn in lead direction on top, (2) step up left and complete turn on top, (3) step down right and left on the north side facing south.

Combo 6 choreography:
Tap n clap repeater: (1) step up right and keep it on the step, (2-6) tap up and down with the left foot - clap each time you tap up, (7,8) step down left and right to change lead.

Combo 7 choreography:
Arabesques: (1) Step up right, (2) reach out with your right arm and lift the left leg slightly, (3) step down left, (4) tap down right. You can lift up on your toes as you reach out to give this a more ballet like feel - works the calf too!
