Dana's Intense Hi-Lo

This is a Hi/Lo pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 7405)

Combo 1.

(This combo does not self-reverse)

Combo 2.

(This combo self-reverses)

Combo 3.

(This combo self-reverses)

Combo 4.

(This combo self-reverses)

Notes:

* On the step-knees, I provide the class with 3 intensity levels. Level 1 is low-impact knees. Level 2 is a "hop-and-hold" knee up. You have to hop onto the right leg and simultaneously bring up the left knee on count 1, and then hold it through count 2 (I add a clap for variety). Then you hop onto the left leg and raise the right knee simultaneously and hold it for 2 counts. Level 3 is double time of level 2 and is extremely intense!

** A Mambo cha cha is where the right leg crosses over the left and steps, then weight is immediately placed back on the left leg which has not moved from its original position other than to lift during the stepping onto the right leg. Then, a quick 1-2-3 (step-together-step) is done (right-left-right), which is the cha-cha part. It is done while moving laterally to the right. This leaves your weight on your right leg, so your left is free for the next move. Walk left-right-left-right towards the right wall of class. Reverse all directions when working on the left.I normally do the Combos in order 1-2-3-4, then do them again 1-2-3-4 on the other leg. If you prefer, you can do Combo 1-2 on right and left, then Combo 3 on right and left, and then Combo 4 on right and left.

I'll be happy to go into further explanations of these moves, and can provide good breakdowns of the pattern for teaching purposes (especially Combo 3, which took me a while to get just right!)
