Exertube Back and Delts from Kauai

This is a Body Sculpting pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 6679)

Attended an excellent workshop with Gay Gasper on Oahu last weekend, got these ideas and much more from that.

Rhomboids/Lats/Delts: Stand on exertube, starting with one foot only on the tubing, if not difficult enough both feet come onto the tubing to increase the resistance. Lift straight arms out to the side squeezing shoulder blades together. If straight arms are too difficult cue softening elbows.

Delts: seated on tubing on top of step platform - strong core, navel into spine, start with military presses, palms rotated towards front of room unless shoulder problems then palms facing in towards head, start with sets of 8, 3 sets depending on strength of students - vary tempo if desired. Use both hands unless too difficult than advise students to use single arms. Progress to front raises, palms down unless shoulder problems than thumbs up, single arm first than both.

Next is lateral raises - long arms unless too hard than soften - can start with singles here,too, progress to both arms than combine the front raise with the lateral raise. Adjust reps and sets to level of your students.

We didn't do many reps of these in the workshop so when I used them in my body conditioning class last week I was surprised how effective they are and even I felt them later on!
