Patty's Power Step

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 8091)

Combo #1 is 64 counts (and, of course, self-reversing) because it took that many moves to smoothly fit the "2 pulse squats across" into it! I tend to get a move stuck in my mind and I build an entire routine around it. All other combos are 32 counts and self-reversing. See explainations below.

* 2 pulse squats across: (this move is from a workshop with Mindy Mylrea. She speeds it up to 1 pulse squats across, but my Sunday morning class can keep up better at 2 pulses) Right foot on step, left foot on floor pulse down/up, down/up (1,2,3,4) as you come up on count 4, both feet come up on the step and pulse down/up, down/up (5,6,7,8) as you come up on count 8, right foot goes to the floor, left foot still on step and pulse down/up, down/up (9,10,11,12) as you come up on count 12, left foot comes to the floor hip distance from the right foot and pulse down/up, down/up (13,14,15,16)

** Knee cha cha cha: Right foot on step (1) left knee lift (2) left foot back to the floor and do a left/right/left cha cha cha feet straddling the step (3,4) Right foot on step (5) left knee lift (6) left foot to the floor (7) right foot to the floor (8) (Exit the step on the same side that you started on)

*** Triple step walk around: a triple step is the same as a cha cha cha only you're giving it forward travel. So it's triple step 2x (right/left/right....left/right/left) (counts 1-4) and regular walk the rest of the way around the step (counts 5-8). This move takes you all the way around the step, back to the place you started.

**** Lunge around the world: (not for the faint of heart! Or the short of breath!! I give a lot of directional cues like "face kid's club" or "face the equipment" that really helps keep the class going in the right direction!) Facing north go up right/left (1,2) lunge back right/left (3,4,5,6) as you come up on count 4, give a little hop and 1/4 turn to face the west. Lunge side right/left (7,8,9,10) another little hop and 1/4 turn to face the south. Lunge back right/left (11,12,13,14) another little hop and 1/4 turn to face the east. Lunge side right/left (15,16,17,18) another little hop and 1/4 turn to face the north. Lunge back right/left (19,20,21,22) exit right/left (23,24)

Left lead turns the opposite way. North, east, south, west, and back to north
