Sonia's ABC's of Step (Routine A for new instructors/students))

This is a Step pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 8172)

This is an easy routine for new instructors or if you have a lot of students who need to learn to use the step. Combos are 32 count and self-reversing. Right foot lead.

If you are new to teaching these moves can be broken down by doing 4 or 8 of each. If it is a change lead move (i.e. repeaters, rocking horse) you would do an uneven number of the move so it would still change your lead (i.e. 3 repeater sets)

                                          NW    NORTH    NE
Directions are in a "map" formation: *****************
                                     WEST *               *  EAST
                                          *               *
                                          *****************

*3 Knees on top of the step: (1) step up right, (2) lift left knee (3) step left down on top, (4) lift right knee, (5) step right down on top, (6) lift left knee (7) step left down to floor, (8) step right down to floor. After learning these you can do the moves on top in a skipping motion to add some pep.

**Split V-step: (1) step up right at SE corner, (2) step up left at SW corner, (3,4) right taps back diagonally and back on step, (5,6) left taps back diagonally and back on step, (7,8) right foot steps down, left foot steps down.

***3 Step touches on top: (1) step up right at SE corner, (2) left toes tap next to right instep, (3) left steps wide to west end staying on top of the step, (4) right toes tap next to left instep,(5) right steps wide to east end staying on top of the step, (6) left toes tap next to right instep, (7) left steps down, (8) right steps down.

On Combo 1: After learning combo 1, try starting at the SW corner with your right lead and move along the step to the east. The 1st grapevine will keep you moving east and the 2nd one will bring you back to the SE corner of the step. After doing the knees and repeater knees you will be in place to move west with your left lead!

Hope someone can use these!! Email if you have any questions.
