Peoples' Choice

The other night I got called upon to teach a class that I wasn't prepared to teach, so I explained to the ladies that I wanted their input as to what they liked to do best in aqua class. After a good all over warmup, I got out all the equipment--noodles--dumbbells--and told the ladies all to think of their favorite move. They were really great about it, and I got a better feel for what they wanted to do in class. We improvised alot, for example someone said pendulums so we did them for about a minute, then I threw the dumbbells in the pool and we added arms. We did intervals with a fast jog for 1 minute, then rocking horse right lead--fast jog 1 minute, rocking horse left--fast jog 1 minute, front heel touches--fast jog 1 minute, rear heel touches--you get the idea--We also do intervals at the side of the pool with feet straight out kicking as hard as they can for 45 seconds and recover with strength moves for the legs, hanging onto the pool wall, or on the floor--remind them that the in between is their recovery time, and to take it at their own pace.

I have a wonderful group that takes my aqua classes--They really do give it their all in class, and their enthusiam inspires me to always look for new and exciting moves--Thank you Turnstep.
