Cardio Poker

This is a [Other] pattern from (pattern 10661)

A fun, fast-paced fitness game using an interval/circuit format.

Have a standard deck of 52 cards plus 2 jokers (wild) ready at the front of your room. One deck will work for up to 7 people, depending upon the format of your game. Two decks can accommodate 15+ people.

Set up stations around the perimeter of the room. I like to alternate cardio and strength stations and use intervals of 1-3 minutes. Check the many fantastic Other patterns for lots of ideas.

After a warm-up, everyone goes to a station and performs the activity for the allotted time. When time is called, everyone comes to the front and gets a card. Continue the rotation until everyone has the necessary amount of cards. At the end, decide who is the winner based upon the rank of poker hands.

Five Card Stud (my version):
Seven stations @ 90 second intervals, 3-5 minute group activities

I have awarded small prizes (tootsie rolls, jolly ranchers) to everyone, and larger treats to the winner.
