Mardi Gras Madness

This is an Aquatic pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 8695)

For those who enjoy Mardi Gras, this is wild! I recently came up with the idea, tried it on my class, and it was hysterical. This works in both shallow and deep water.

You will need some sort of plastic Mardi Gras "beads". You can use your own, buy them at party or craft supply stores, garage sales and thrift stores. Or, use the beaded string Christmas decorations cut into pieces and hot glued together.

During the last 3-5 minutes of class, (before the cool down,) we go to Mardi Gras. I have the class run the width of the pool down & back (running down the street at a MG parade). Each time they complete a lap, they start jumping up and down, waving their arms and yelling "Hey Mister, throw me something" (the official Mardi Gras mantra). I then toss them a set of "beads". Once they get the beads, they run their next lap. They run as many laps, and get as many beads, as they can in the time alloted. Whoever collects the most beads is the MG King or Queen. They can either keep the beads as their reward or you can collect them for the next "parade".

This was great fun! People were running, jumping, yelling and catching beads. At the end, they were exhausted from the workout and laughing. Word of caution - be CAREFUL when tossing the beads. Have Fun.
