Basic Training

This is a [Other] pattern from (pattern 8697)

Until 3 years ago, I was Fitness Officer for my US Army Reserve Unit, and ACSM Certified HFI, as well as world's oldest living group fitness instructor at 58. I am also an Advanced Practice RN, and do not wish to harm people. I see many "boot camp" type workouts that don't hit the mark, and aren't even safe. The purpose of the workout is to challenge not hurt people; real military workouts help people grow stronger, build solidarity ,esprit and confidence. A good workout addresses fitness goals. I focus on building endurance, improving running + movement skills for sport performance, balance and coordination, agility, speed. I never focus on appearance or s, backwards, sideways, and some calisthenics and stretching. Use a circle format, and get people out of the mirror, and into reflecting energy and enthusiasm in the room. Each class is a new and living has never happened before and never will again. Help each person feel important in the circle and to the life of this workout.

This is my lanes and stations workout

I vary segments of the class depending on the level of fitness, I have regulars who have been doing this class with me for 3 years; they're ready for almost anything. I have never had an injury in my class. I never yell or harrangue or bully people, although folks think that's what the Army Trainer does. Not True!

Some of my favorite pushup station exercises:

I have many formats and ideas for doing this type of class. Let me know what you're doing, too! Email me.
