Athletic Hi/Lo #2

This is a Hi/Lo pattern from (pattern 8741)

As I mentioned in my last "Athletic Hi/Lo" submission, I teach a 30-minute high-intensity, low choreography class that is geared to female and male participants. In this lesson plan, I threw in some interval work for fun. Credit goes to Kathy Kieler of Syndey, Australia, for Blocks B and D of this submission. Block A (start with a right lead)

Then repeat with left lead. This time, travel back with the alternating knees.

Block B (start with a right lead)

Then repeat with left lead. The "shuffle" is the athletic and guy-friendly version of the grapevine.

Block C (the jump-rope/interval combo)

The heel skip and knee skip are done quickly - that is, heel out or knee up on every count. For an extra cardio boost, add arms by pressing arms up and down overhead while doing the heel and knee skips. Drop the arms for the speed burst.

Block D

Block E (another interval)

All these moves can be done high-impact or low-impact. For example, for a low-impact version of the skip, do a power march on the spot. Instead of a pony, do a step touch. Instead of power jack, do squats side to side. The options are endless!
