Cycling to the Music

This is a Cycling pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 8462)

Many songs follow the same pattern: verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus. You can use this pattern to create a very nice routine for either a hill climb or sprint, with very little preparation.

For a hill climb: Start with a seated climb during the first verse. Every time you get to the chorus, stand up and raise the tension one. After the chorus, sit down, but keep the tension the same. Continue to sit for the verses and bridge, and stand for the choruses. By the end of the song, the tension should be very challenging. Typically the last chorus is the longest, so you can even raise the tension again during this part. It will seem natural to stand up during the chorus, because it is usually louder and stronger than the rest of the song.

For sprints: Use the same basic idea, but do a run during the verses and bridge, and do an all-out sprint during the choruses. Again, the last chorus will be the longest, which will make the last sprint the most challenging. For variety, you can also do something totally different during the bridge, for example, a standing run, hill climb, etc...Again, it will seem very natural to sprint during the chorus.

Here are some songs I have used this idea with:
