January Advanced Step
This is a
Step pattern from
www.turnstep.com.
(pattern 8475)
Step is horizontal.
All blocks are 32 counts and self-reversing.
Directions are north, south, east, and west.
All combos start on right lead.
Block A
- Basic right, V-step right. (8)
- Knee lift off west end, (right lead) grapevine to
left (left lead) with knee, walk in towards step right and
left. (8)
- Across top right lead, grapevine to right with knee right
lead, walk back in left and right, but now facing the
west. (8)
- Curl and straddle left lead, curl off south side of
step, now facing front. (8).
Repeat on left.
Block B
- Up right and left, lunge back right and left, step down
right and left. (8).
- Rock once, right lead, kick right lead, and straddle
down and up, now facing west wall. (8)
- Left foot down, right foot lifts slightly (1), right foot
up (2), left foot up into a turnstep (3), right foot
down, left foot lifts slightly (4), shuffle turn left
lead (5-8).
- Diagonal over top right lead, step tap out and around
end of step. You end up on the southwest corner of
the step facing east. (8)
Repeat on left lead.
Block C
- Turn and straddle 2 times right lead. (8)
- Knee lift right lead, grapevine left on floor towards
south wall, walk back in (8).
- Facing west wall on right lead - up right and left, lunge
to sides right and left, step down right and left, now
facing back of the room. (8)
- Right lead over the top turning inside - no tap
down (1-4), back lift right lead (5-8). Some people call
the first 4 counts "reverse hook."
Repeat on left lead.
Block D
- Facing west wall - right foot on step, left foot lifts
slightly (1), left foot down, right foot lifts
slightly (2), right foot straddles step and left foot
lifts slightly (3), left foot down, right foot lifts
slightly (4), right foot on step, left foot lifts
slightly (5), left foot down, right foot lifts
slightly (6), mambo back right (7-8). On counts 5-8
you could also do a pivot.
- Repeater knee, crossing behind on the second
knee. (8)
- Rocking L-step left foot on step, right foot lifts
slightly (1), right foot down on east end of step, left
foot lifts slightly (2), left foot on step, right foot
lifts slightly (3), right foot down behind step (4),
left foot down behind step (5), right foot on step, left
foot lifts slightly (6), left foot down on west end
of step, right foot lifts slightly (7), right foot on
step, left foot lifts slightly (8), left foot down
behind step (9), right foot down behind step (10),
left foot up (11), right knee lifts (12) right foot
on step (13), left knee lifts (14) step down left and
right (15-16).
Repeat on left lead.
Block E
- Kick to corners right and left. (8)
- Facing west wall - over the top into a squat, over the
top turning inside to stay on left lead. (8)
- Facing east wall on left lead - side lift straddle, side
lift off north side of step - turning to face west
wall. (8)
- Straddle left lead, exit to south side of step, turning
to face front.
Repeat on left lead.
