A Cardiobox WARMUP!!

This is a BoxAerobics pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 9750)

I haven't seen too many "cardiobox warmups" out there, so here's mine!

Repeat (here I tell them that if they get tired on the shuffle later in class, they can do the 2 steps instead)

Now I start with the punches (cueing technique the whole time)

Then we go back to the shuffle right & taps, shuffle left & taps, bob & weaves, and squats.

Do the punching combo again but this time with crosses ... back the the shuffle sequence ... punching combo with uppercuts (you get the idea)... back to the shuffles...

Leg stretches at the end (hamstrings, quads, hip flexors, etc). The whole thing takes about 8-10 minutes.

During the warmup, and before starting the patterns, I like to begin with a "review" of form and technique on the punches. Slowing it down this way gives me time to cue technique (rotate the hip, pivot on the toe, etc) for first timers, and gives me a chance to challenge the more "advanced" cardiokickers to perfect their form and be precise. Since I started this warmup, I have noticed a big difference in their form and technique, as well as my own! Thanks for all the great ideas!
