Power Squats

This is a Body Sculpting pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 9575)

This is a squat power move that really works the legs. Make sure you tell your class to really sit back with these squats to protect their knees, and keep their knees soft for shock absorption.

Start by facing the front of the room as normal. Toes and knees pointing straight ahead or just slightly out, feet about hip width apart. Sit back and do single squats X4. As you come up from squat 4, instruct the class to jump and turn 90 degrees to the left, landing in a half squat with knees soft. Continue single squats X4 like this all the way around, finishing up with 4 to the front. Start again immediately to the right and do a full circle around, again finishing up to the front.

Begin another circle to the left doing pulses X8 (or X4) for each segment; repeat again going to the right. Begin again to the left doing singles X2, then to the right all the way around singles X2. Finish up to the front with 8 more singles.

Depending on the fitness of your class you can vary the number of singles, pulses and repeated circles around.
