Sonia's "Oil Pump"

This is a Body Sculpting pattern from (pattern 10499)

Lie on your side with your knees slightly bent and your head all the way down (either on arm folded under head or arm straight). Your heels should be in an even line with your spine. Rest the top hand on the floor in front of you for support. Then straighten the top leg so it is even with your hip/torso. Foot is relaxed.

Do parts A and B straight through 1, 2, or 3 times as class requires. Do an equal number or reps on each side.

Part A (done slowly)

Part B (done up tempo)


Do not bring the straight leg farther forward than the angle of the bottom thigh. Some students may need to bring that leg forward at less of an angle (to where the middle of the top calf is over the middle of the lower calf).

Experiment with music on this if you want to follow a beat or just use soft background music. If following the beat make it slow enough to get really good control on part A and so that part B can be done without just slinging the leg around!
