San Francisco Stops

This is a Cycling pattern from www.turnstep.com. (pattern 10311)

Hi, here is an interesting and entertaining pattern for cycling.

The idea is to cycle around San Francisco. As everyone knows, San Francisco is a city with a lot of hills, some very steep.

Here's the deal: Everyone starts out at the bottom of the hill in the city. The group will be climbing one particular hill in the city. The group will be in first position until the instructor calls out that the group is approaching a "yellow" light. Well, because it is necessary to get through that yellow light as quick as possible, the group has to stand in 2nd position and sprint through that light (5 seconds or less). Once through the light, the group continues to "climb" in first position up the hill.

So here's the summary:

Start with little or no tension at first. Pedal in first.

Approach a yellow light - stand up and sprint in second position to get through the light

Sit back down - pedal in first again

(Do the yellow light sprints a couple of times)

Next, increase the tension - so the hill is steeper and the class is still climbing in first

Do a couple of yellow light sprints in second

Keep increasing the steepness of that hill while pedaling in first (i.e. increase tension).

Eventually, the hill will be so steep, it is necessary to continuously climb in second or third position.

That's it - hope everyone enjoys it!
